Japanese Cuisine

Kaiseki Ryori, dainty and refined Japanese dishes, usually consist of appetizer, soup, sashimi, grilled fish or meat, deep fried dish, steamed dish, vinegared dish, steamed rice, pickles and fruit. It has become the most authentic style of Japanese meal to serve at ceremonies and banquets.

We offer authentic Kaiseki Ryori, served on fine plates in an elegant and refined setting. Our master chief carefully selects the ingredients from the sea and land. Please take an opportunity to taste delicacies of the season.

Hot Spring Spa

Our spa area was renovated in 2000. There are various elaborated bath including Shigaraki pottery flower garden open-air bath, Japanese cypress bath, Jacuzzi, nostalgic metal bath and far infrared sauna.
How to take a bath in Japanese way

1. Take off all your clothes in the changing room. Japanese hot springs are enjoyed naked.

2. You may bring a small towel into the bathing area, with which you can enhance your privacy while outside of the water.

3. Before entering the bath, rinse your body with shower or using a washbowl. Once you enter the bath, keep the towel out of the water.

4. Soak your body into the bath, relax and enjoy.

Tea-ceremony Arbor Koyotei

In our Japanese garden, there is a historic tea-ceremony arbor that remodeled as a guesthouse. At the entrance, doorplate written by Genso Okuda is hung. Only one party per night may monopolize the tea arbor and enjoy the calm and luxurious time. Koyotei is complete with a bathroom with a stone bathtub and mist sauna.

Historically, a tea-ceremony arbor or room is built in a Japanese garden for a tea ceremony to invite and entertain guests with tea. It is traditionally built in a Japanese garden with a pathway. In the tea ceremony, tea is made by putting powdered green tea leaves and pouring hot water into a cup. It is then stirred with a tea whisk till foamy.

Japanese Garden

Construction of Japanese garden generally utilizes undulations of the ground or building a miniature mountain, locating a pond at the center of it, and arranging garden stones and plants so that viewers can appreciate the scenery in all seasons.


At Hotel Kamogawaso’s Japanese garden, you can enjoy cherry blossoms in spring, Japanese iris in summer, red maple leaves in autumn and sasanqua in winter. In the garden, there are Gekkaden Noh stage and Tea-ceremony Arbor Koyotei, renovated in 2008.

The stroll path is available in the garden. You can walk through to hear chattering of birds and babbling of a stream and to feel the sense of seasons. The garden can be viewed from the most guest rooms. It is illuminated at night creating a fantastic atmosphere, which is different from daytime.

Gekkaden Noh Stage

Gekkaden is a Noh stage in Kamogawaso's Japanese garden. Every year, Takigi Noh (Noh drama performed outdoors at night by firelight) is performed in spring, and Owara Kaze-no-bon dance is performed in autumn.


Noh is Japanese traditional masked drama with dance and song, developed in the 14th century. It has been highly acclaimed around the world for its great artistic value.

Furthermore, public performances, such as Hiroshima's traditional "kagura court dance and music" and "kabuki dancing," are held at Gekkaden Noh stage. It may be also used for a summer BBQ party and a ceremony.

Japanese - style Rooms

A Japanese-style room is a room on whose floor tatami mats are laid. Tatami mats, being made of plants called rushes, offer a sense of togetherness with nature and generate feelings of coolness in summer and warmth in winter, which are features of a Japanese-style room. A Tokonoma (alcove where art or flowers are displayed) is in a room.


Each room has no bath room. Please go to our hot spring and enjoy it.

Our guest rooms have a Japanese-style room connected with a Western-style room with 2 twin-size beds. Each Japanese-style room has eight tatami mats, a low table and cushions. The area of each guest room is at least 40 square meters. From the window, gusts can enjoy authentic Japanese garden view.

Japanese Paintings

There is a special exhibition room showing paintings by Genso Okuda and sculptures and dolls by his wife Sayume Okuda.


An admission is free for hotel guests.

Japanese Paintings are created with pigments such as shell lime as well as glue, ink slabs, ink sticks, silk, Japanese paper, paint brushes, coloring brushes and ceramic brush washers.


Genso Okuda (1912-2002) is one of the most successful Japanese-style painters in modern days. He was born in Kisa Town, Hiroshima Prefecture. He was awarded Order of Cultural Merit in 1984. He finished the wall paintings of priests' living quarters, the main entrance and the Roseitei of Ginkaku-ji temple in Kyoto in 1996. Genso’s brother in law is the founder of Hotel Kamogawaso.
